The Franklin Institute

The Franklin Museum and Science Center is the epicenter of scientific research and education in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Franklin Institute was founded in 1824. Founded by Samuel Vaughn Merrick and William H. Keating, the Franklin Institute aimed to promote the usefulness of Benjamin Franklin’s inventions. For its first century, the Franklin Institute was located on South 7th Street, just a block away from Independence Hall, where he signed the United States Constitution.
